...hope for a brighter future
Dear Friends,
As the autumn leaves begin to change and the air grows crisp, we are reminded of the beauty of transformation and new beginnings. This season invites reflection and gratitude for the blessings we’ve received and the opportunities we’ve had to serve those in need. In that same spirit, we wanted to share with you how your generosity has made a difference this year.
We are deeply committed to embodying the teachings of Jesus, answering the call to serve the most vulnerable among us. As part of our mission with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we strive to bring justice, compassion, and hope to the marginalized, as seen in John 13:14:
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
So far this year, thanks to your generosity, we’ve been able to meet the urgent needs of many seeking safety and a fresh start. We provide vital resources like food, clothing, medical care, transportation, and legal aid to refugees who have been vetted by Homeland Security but need help reaching their families or sponsors. Through these efforts, we have witnessed many lives transformed.
Here are four stories of hope and resilience, made possible through your generous support:
1. Venezuelan Family of Seven
A widowed mother of five and her elderly mother were left homeless, wandering through the streets with no place to go. After a kind-hearted woman took them in for a week, she reached out to us for help. Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries provided bus tickets for the family to reunite with their relatives in New York, where they will begin a new chapter of safety and opportunity.
2. A Pastor’s Faith Tested
A Pentecostal pastor from Venezuela faced persecution and threats to his life due to his unwavering faith. Forced to flee his home country, he found refuge through Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries. A few refreshing weeks later, he was able to continue his journey in peace.
3. Haitian Family Seeking Freedom
Fleeing from extortion and persecution, a Haitian family made a brave journey escaping the dangers of their homeland. After being processed by Homeland Security, we helped them to secure a move toward safety and freedom.
4. A Cuban Scuba Diver’s Escape
A professional scuba diver and teacher from Cuba stood against the injustices of communism, which led to political persecution and threats to his life. Forced to leave behind everything he knew, he sought refuge in the United States. With the help of Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries, he was able reunite with his children and family.
Your generosity has allowed these families and individuals to survive and have hope for a brighter future. As we continue our mission during this season of renewal, we ask for your continued support to help more families in need.
Friends, thank you for walking alongside us. Your generous support makes our mission possible and inspires hope to families in need.
With gratitude,
