RIDE FOR THE REFUGEE:
Donations are always a blessing here at Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries (SWGSM). Saturday October 4, 2008 one of our largest donation programs which come once a year (Ride for the Refugee) made of up the North Texas Area churches arrived at our Bayview facility in the early afternoon. Two semi trailers (18 wheelers) and a couple of vehicles led by a group of motorcycle riders were a part of the caravan. The collection of items have been gathered and stored over the last year from several different churches including FCC Gladewater, FCC Liberal, FCC Amarillo, FCC Abilene, Kingsville FCC, and FCC Pampa. Many refugees, community, church, and staff members were here to welcome the group and to help unload the trucks. Items such as furniture, clothes, food, sinks and electrical equipment were taken off of the semis. It took approximately three hours to unload and sort the items into different categories. After unloading there was a meal prepared and served by the members of Iglesia Cristiana Emmanuel and Iglesia Cristiana Ebenezer churches and group pictures to follow. After many thanks and hugs the Ride for the Refugee group packed their things and headed out on their journey home. It is because of donations like these, big or small, that makes the ministry of SWGSM possible. Thank you to everyone who has made a special gift to this ministry. You are truly a blessing.
